"I suddenly had this amazing clarity. I knew that I had to make a break with him and the drugs to try to keep my marriage alive."

Wow. You realised NOT having an affair with a man was a good way not to alienate your wife. Real fucking epiphany there Paul.

Having an affair with a man is not as important as being married to a woman, the article seems to suggest.

Anyone put some good miles in this weekend?

I managed Bristol to Exeter and it was amazing. Saw a deer, a donkey, rabbits, alpacas and lots of other animals. Roads were really good as well until we reached Honition and then it was like cycling on a pneumatic drill.

about 80, it was nice and sunny  Smiley

Quality not quantity  Wink I am refining my complaining skills.
69  General / The Forum / Re: letter of complaint on: April 15, 2014, 11:36:26
Was incorrectly given a parking ticket today - parking services will be wishing they had never been born after they read this.

Your ref: PCN Number IX-------A, 'Served' on 15/04/2014

Dear Parking Services Team,

This is just to notify you that I have been issued with a ticket for parking in a zone 2 space, when my parking permit was clearly displayed in the windscreen of my car (just next to tax disc). I have been out of town with work, so had not opened your correspondence of 09/04/14 which contained a new parking permit to replace my cancelled permit 1-------1, which was cancelled due to an administrative mistake at your office.
I have spoken to a member of the Parking Services Team on the phone today who assures me that said ticket will be quashed forthwith.

Many thanks for your help in this matter. It only remains for me to wish you the same happy motoring and parking experience that I enjoy every day on the highways and byways of our fair county town of Ipswich.

Yours sincerely,

Benjamin Isiah

Good luck in Kuwait! I have a friend who works as a teacher in Abu Dhabi and says much the same about it as you do about Kuwait. If I didn't have family ties and a really nice job here in UK, I would be off like a shot too! My brother does TEFL in Spain and loves the job and the country.

IMO if you want a good father/daughter relationship you don't need to do much more than to buy her a motocross bike.

 Script Well said.

I know I'm 5 years late on this, but that made me laugh a lot  Laughing
95  General / The Forum / Re: are your parents annoying you yet? on: December 26, 2013, 17:21:34
All the old habits are still deeply entrenched, here are some new annoying ones from this xmas.

- Inability to answer questions/make polite conversation while making xmas dinner because 'I'm at a crucial stage with the duck'

- Referring to his conservatory (already a massive topic of conversation) as 'the garden room' as he has has a ceiling plastered into it.

- referring to a light buffet type lunch as a 'smorgasbord' complete with crap swedish accent. Dad, it is some scotch eggs and some cheese.

- Wearing washing up gloves when taking wet clothes out of the washing machine as 'the detergent will dry out the skin on my hands'

- regular obsession with checking the weather forecast, and taking a huge golfing umbrella into town, nearly blinding several shoppers in the process

- constant complaints about TV 'there's never anything good one because TV executives pay themselves too much, leaving no budget for programming'

- insistence on muting tv ad breaks THE EXACT MOMENT that they start. If you happen to have the remote and fail to do this he has an epileptic fit.

- inability to do anything in kitchen (e.g. put a plate in a cupboard) without making massive banging and crashing noises

- rants about politics/the economy e.g. young people can't afford mortgages/jobs are not safe anymore/a job is no longer for life/rising cost of living etc. I'm painfully aware of all of this - I find it very annoying to be reminded about it every 5 minutes.

Ah the joys of functioning autism among sexagenarians

98  General / The Forum / Re: budgets on: December 04, 2013, 17:56:49
In the process of buying a house and trying to draw up a budget for when I move in,

Have I forgot anything that I should be including?? Pretty damn depressing.

mortgage repayments
council tax
Water
gas/electricity
food
car - mot/service/tax
Car - insurance
petrol
gym
internet
building/content insurance
life insurance
tv licence

I don't have a pension or phone bill.

Furniture / Repairs - depending on how old the place it.. may want to have some stashed up incase there is boiler trouble / plumbing issues. I got a service agreement with British Gas which does a monthly check and if there are issues, already covers parts and labour.

Savings = if you can put some away as well, then it is already stashed.

Booze = I see no money for booze.

Booze comes under food doesn't it?
