11301  General / The Forum / tomorrow night's gig in town on: July 29, 2002, 16:05:30
Hi folks

Another trio gig at the chateau, Park St at 9pm tues night. This time it's the Quiet American trio, which is my main working trio - guitar double bass & drums. At this dead time of year any support is much apprecisted, especially as the management at le chateau has just changed, so I want to make sure the new bods dig it. innit

cheers

Ben

11303  General / The Forum / Re: Does anyone fancy coming to Bath tonight? on: July 26, 2002, 21:25:55
Would try but knackered after a heavy week - just want to go to the pub. respect to the Bath geezers, in particular the salamander and the mad farmhouse lot. Check out those pubs.
11304  General / The Forum / Re: LOCUS/Metalheadz - Fri 2 Aug - Goldie & Doc Sc on: July 26, 2002, 21:21:05
well it begs the question who in eastenders (apart from Goldie) would be able to do a good dj set? My money's on patrick and jim b2b.

Raymond shouldn't you be at work?
11306  General / The Forum / Re: LOCUS/Metalheadz - Fri 2 Aug - Goldie & Doc Sc on: July 25, 2002, 23:51:08
Oh wicked - just realised that that's next week. Mental.
11307  General / The Forum / Re: Bad Company (Live set) @ Thekla on: July 25, 2002, 13:44:00
Ganja smugglin as in the Eek-a-mouse tune? Kewl.
11308  General / The Forum / Re: ashton court festival on: July 24, 2002, 21:14:46
Why not have it by those lovely fountains in the centre just opposite the hippodrome? If ever there was a place that 500 dreadlocked hippies and students and vegetarian "modern parents" would be made to feel at home, surely that's it? Cheesy

From reading this thread, an outsider could be forgiven for thinking that the most important things in our lives are Jungle, Booze, and reefer - in no particular order. So, the next next conundrum has to be:

To save the world, which do you give up - Booze or Reefer? Shocked

- This is really starting to do my head in now. Why can't people just be happy with what they've got?
11310  General / The Forum / Re: DnB or booze? on: July 23, 2002, 20:52:35
oh fuck, now I've gone and posted as ray. I hold my hands up - it was me who was sick in the road - not him.

Sorry! Cheesy
11311  General / The Forum / Re: next week's gig in Bristal on: July 21, 2002, 21:06:59
that'll be 150 please.  Cheesy
11312  General / The Forum / beard smiley on: July 21, 2002, 17:50:55
Ok this has been troubling me for a few days now. When are we going to get a beard smiley. Over on DOA they are making provisions for extravagancies such as tie-fighter smileys, so in my opinion it's not unreasonable to ask for a beard smiley - not only to warn people when Rit is in season, but also because beards are an important part of day to day living for a lot of people - either as observers or active participants. What does the panel think?
11313  General / The Forum / Re: Bringing the impossible to your doorstep... on: July 21, 2002, 17:46:13
I didn't hang around to find out.
11314  General / The Forum / Re: DnB or booze? on: July 21, 2002, 17:30:58
oops - sorry about that - now managed to post as Rit. This now means that everyone is probably as confused as I am. Either Rit's posting as me or I am as Teddy or er...
11315  General / The Forum / Re: Bringing the impossible to your doorstep... on: July 19, 2002, 21:38:08
Incidentally, when is Aaron going to provide us with a beard smiley?
11316  General / The Forum / Re: Bringing the impossible to your doorstep... on: July 19, 2002, 21:36:47
Sadly the beard went today - I know this because I tried to wash my hands in the sink but couldn't because the sink was full of thick beard hair. In fact all the sinks in the entire flat were. But at least it got rid of all the bitches.
11317  General / The Forum / Re: next week's gig in Bristal on: July 19, 2002, 21:29:50
I sold the banjo actually. Now I just hit a biscuit tin with a stick and shout. The residency in Suffolk fell through, but I'm touring Kamchatka later this summer.

Should be a good one.
11318  General / The Forum / Re: DnB or booze? on: July 19, 2002, 21:25:49
oops - just posted as Teddy by accident - now everyone thinks he's an alcoholic. hahaha. Smiley
11319  General / The Forum / next week's gig in Bristal on: July 19, 2002, 02:00:42

Alright - thanks to the hijackers who came to my gig on tues night this week - hope you enjoyed it. The good news is that next week it's the same line up including the ace trumpeter Gary Alesbrook. Le Chateau Park St, 9 - 11pm.

Also thought it was a nice one at Ether last night btw.
11320  General / The Forum / Re: ashton court festival on: July 17, 2002, 21:34:33
don't know which day it is or what stage time etc, but if you see it around, check out Veli's Dub Orchestra - it's mental.
11321  General / The Forum / Re: this week's live stuff on: July 17, 2002, 20:52:59
In my extensive experience I usually manage to take the party with me wherever I go. I'm just trying to think where the most inappropriate place that I've ever got drunk is. So far my nan's 85th birthday party. I don't think I've ever been so completely trashed as on that fateful day. But I'll save the story for the next time I catch you in the pub. Innit.
11322  General / The Forum / Re: Bringing the impossible to your doorstep... on: July 17, 2002, 20:46:15
tell me about it - our flat's a nightmare at the moment - I can't get to the sink to do the washing up because of all the bitches stood in the way. Luckily it's fairly easy to get a takeaway - from Harrod's Kebab Dept of course. We get chauffered there in the L8CUS F8CUS , which Rit has recently had spray painted a rather nice shade of gold. Greasy. How are you anyway jemski?
11323  General / The Forum / Re: clean cut @ take 5 cafe, friday 19th july on: July 17, 2002, 04:46:56

11325  General / The Forum / Re: this week's live stuff on: July 16, 2002, 22:56:23
oop - looks like I accidentally posted using teddy's sig - this is what comes of being a blag artist and using other people's computers. Cheesy
11326  General / The Forum / this week's live stuff on: July 15, 2002, 23:48:10
Cheesy
this week: tonight Jake McMurchie at The Prom Gloucester Rd - Jake was on the scene here but is now mainly a London head. Usually plays with the Portishead rhythm section when he's in town.

Tues: At Le Chateau, Park St, 9pm: Me + Dave Griffiths (double bass) and the amazing Gary Alesbrook on trumpet - gave you a rundown of his career so far on my post the other day - the gist of it is that the guy's ace and I'm lucky to able to play with him a bit.

Thurs - no idea whose band it is at The Old Duke, King St, but my mate Andy Tween is drumming with them and he's wicked - off touring round europe with Pee Wee Ellis from James Brown's band soon - worth checking out.
11327  General / The Forum / Re: Bringing the impossible to your doorstep... on: July 11, 2002, 23:33:48
Beaufort rd flat is probably gonna be there - even if Goldie does probably support the Wolves.  Cheesy
11328  General / The Forum / Re: clean cut @ take 5 cafe, friday 19th july on: July 11, 2002, 23:31:17
See you there Teddy - should be good.
11329  General / The Forum / jazz musichan inna Bristal on: July 11, 2002, 23:29:37
Ello, bit of shameless publicity:

Tonight (thurs) at Le Chateau, Park St, 10 - 12pm - Joe Blanc Trio "it's a jazz trio"

Next Tues at Le Chateau my trio "it's a jazz trio", featuring the amazing - no, he really is amazing - Gary Alesbrook on trumpet. Gary is a professional geezer when it comes to music: big name session player and member of the Super Furry Animals horn section - really worth hearing.

The trio is on every week at the same venue for the near future and my CD "3..2..1" is on sale at the bar if any of you have got more money than sense er I mean would like to hear "one of Bristal's finest young guitarists" (venue) in action in your hi fi an ting. Cheesy

Cheers also to all the geezers that came and said how much they liked my dj set at the locus at the level last week, in case that was anyone who posts on this board.
