Yeah, they're getting pretty popular. Sony has one for PS3 users to mooch around in.  Maybe the other consoles do as well.  Who knows.

It's not really that different from any massively multiplayer game... except there isn't a game involved...  Smashed Doh!
102  General / The Forum / Re: PS3 Launch... on: March 25, 2007, 14:14:39
Quote
The official UK launch for the £425 console began at midnight with an event at the flagship Virgin store in Oxford Street, central London.

Sony said it was the biggest console launch ever seen in Britain, with 220,000 machines distributed around the country in preparation for high demand from shoppers.

 Laugh  Sony must be gutted.

But what really annoys me is that the 20GB version thing is being sold for US$329 in Japan.  That's ~£170 quid.  Why should people in the UK pay £255 more than in Japan?  Admittedly, it's the 60GB version only over here, but it is still a giant pisstake.  In fact, I think the UK is the only place in the world where Sony are making a profit actually selling the console... it costs ~$800 for Sony per unit, which is ~£410.    No wonder people aren't interested...  Smashed

104  General / The Forum / Re: PS3 Launch... on: March 25, 2007, 00:09:19
It's a bargain if you consider how much it costs to buy a blu-ray player - they are about £500 quid alone.

That said, I don't want a blu-ray player, and even if I did I wouldn't pay £500 for one.  I'd do the sensible thing and wait 2 years until I can buy one for £30...

And as for the dual-core laptop comparison - that's bollocks basically.  For the money the hardware is amazing. A stunning gpu, a minimum of 1+7 processing cores, a blu-ray drive and a whole bunch of other stuff, wrapped up in a nice package that's whisper quiet.  An equivalently powered PC would cost £1000+++.  Fuck it, it's probably worth buying one just to make a nice profit selling off the individual components...  Laugh

I don't want one in the least, but just playing devil's advocate.  Smiley

These things totally rock. For a 20 quid outlay, I can now consistently make better coffee than most coffee shops.
Plus that TwoDay shop on St Michaels hill/Hampton road gives you seriously awesome coffee.  Quite expensive, but worth it.

One would hope that the ridiculously destructive nature of modern weaponry would put a permanent end to the concept of a world war... the fuckwitts in charge should know it's a rapid route to MAD.

However, I sorely doubt there will ever be an end to small to medium scale conventional warfare...

less than 200MB free space can do that.

or I found this

Quote
...try doing a search for sr.inf
when found, right click it and select "Install"
You may be asked for the XP install cd.

I've got a load of free space and have tried some things already - I've got a PC boffin on the case though who's trying to help me find out what's up! It's looking like my computer's insides are a bit wrong though .. hope we can get to the bottom of it  Undecided

I just bounced off a few geek forums to find that "sr.inf" file thingy.

It really does just sound like XP spazzing out rather than your PC's innards.

I'm sure your boffin will sort it  Two Thumbs

If system restore hasn't been running it's unlikely to ever be of any help to you as there won't be any checkpoints...
128  General / The Forum / Re: Hijack FAQ on: February 21, 2007, 00:09:51
Why was the "anyone know who tagged my van?" thread closed? I don't believe for a second it would be closed if pictures and names had been posted of someone who walked off with a banner/CDJ from a club night, or if they'd just taken a baseball bat to the van. People talk about graff writers as if they are Robin Hood; they're vandals. I also reckon there'd be no cries of 'Rat' if we were talking about common thieves.

Big Script to that.
129  General / The Forum / Re: Ray Mears on: February 20, 2007, 18:35:20
there's something frighteningly sinister about ray mears.

Yeah, it's the way he eyes up which parts of your body could provide him with life-giving food and water in the event of an emergency.
130  General / The Forum / Re: is tagging shit? ? on: February 20, 2007, 18:33:26
OK Ill tell you, some people say its shit and other people say they dont mind it and its future graff artists in the making.

Fuck's sake.  Why can't wannabe future graff artists practice their shitty signatures on a piece of paper, and reserve the wall space for something that actually requires more skill than taking a dump.
131  General / The Forum / Re: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii on: February 20, 2007, 18:25:25
still don't get the wii craze...have played it a little more and think it's exceptionally dull. Am yet to play any games aside from zelda (the worst in the series yet), wii sports and wiii play so maybe there are some more impressive and fun games on the horizon....?

Big  Script to that.  It's like they've gone to the other extreme from other consoles - all the effort has gone into making the new innovative controller working really well, and they've missed out the "game" part.  I got bored of Wii sports after about 2 hours.  In fact, I'd say it started to annoy me.  Still, I have high hopes that other developers will be using the controller in slightly more engrossing games...

VLC player if you set it up right is an excellent replacemant and does all video jobs too, so no more quicktime!!   yay!!

God almighty, Quicktime is the biggest bag of wankety wank ever coded.  Particularly on a PC.  Never have I come across a piece of software more liable to consume unreasonable amounts of CPU time (i.e. all of it) whilst doing basically nothing except crashing.
137  General / The Forum / Re: alternatives to itunes for mac? on: February 19, 2007, 18:40:18
You can stop iTunes from importing all of your music to its own library in the preferences.  Why on earth it should want to do this, I never worked out.  I had all my tunes nicely ordered in artist/album folders so I could synchronise my music easily between 3 different computers, and so I was less than impressed the first time I tried iTunes on my Mac and it started copying without asking my first all my 30 Gigs of music to the drive it was already on, but in a slightly different arrangement.  Nice one Apple  Smashed :BELM:

its a cracked version, but i've allways used cracked copies of windows & it's never let me down.
what annoys me is that at least 1GB of the installation is there to degrade the usage of your computer and stop it from working if its cracked,

the only way that must have happened it Microsoft have access to my PC & they looked on my hard-drive & seen it was a cracked copy, then disabled my PC, i think thats well out of order for Microsoft to even be snooping round on other peoples PC's

Oh. My. God.

Basically i'm lookin to put a link to an image in an email so that when you open the mail an image (a flyer) comes up in the text space, but isnt sent with the flyer.. pretty sure this can be done, anybody know how please? cheers  Smiley

Just make sure you're composing HTML mail, and then you can just put in any HTML you like, including images.

On the down side though, a lot of mail clients stop the showing of images for privacy reasons.
