Waiting on a new stylus for my other Ortofon, so the spare cart is on the R deck.

Two mixers means i can scratch both decks left handed too. Desktop on its side is fine, it was like that for a year previously, so its been accustomed to it. Mouse is behind L deck, Keyboard is behind the record sleeve innit!

It ain't the best, but it does the trick.

3123  General / The Forum / Re: One for the DJs... most annoying requests/biggest twats on: September 14, 2006, 14:11:29
dialogue from djing at a recent engagement party...

twat: 'mate, listen... you got anything, y'know, funky?'

me: 'how about 'kiss' by prince, or perhaps 'she's she one' by james brown?' (holding the covers up to him).

twat: 'nah, mate, that's not what i mean.'

sheeesh!

Sometimes you just can't win...

I bet if you showed him Eric Prydz he'd have kissed you.... Doh!
3124  General / The Forum / Re: One for the DJs... most annoying requests/biggest twats on: September 13, 2006, 15:41:24
The worst type of request goobers are those that ask for something and then complain when you play it. For example, one night at T2 I have some woman ask me for Michael Jackson, so I played my mate's re-edit of 'Working Day & Night'. Said woman then came and complained and said "don't you have any other Michael Jackson?" Er, no, just be happy I fucking played it at all you ungrateful bitch!

Had that with MJ tunes before, especially Q-Tip vs MJ - Breathe Don't Stop.  Two Thumbs

3128  General / The Forum / Re: One for the DJs... most annoying requests/biggest twats on: September 13, 2006, 13:31:14
Funny one I had is "can you play some hiphop?" (as I'm playing Gangstarr or something!)
"urrmmmm, what do you think this is"
"No I mean proper hiphop, like chart stuff I can dance to"  Roll Eyes

Hahahaha, had that before too!!!

Weirdest one was when i was DJing at an after-party in next to Fabric, and had a trolleyed Spannish girl keep coming up to me and tell me that my music was "awful & disgusting" or something simmilar, and then glare at me.

The promoter came over and wanted a photo of me and the other DJ together, so this girl comes over and DEMAND to be in the photo too.  Smashed

Obviously i told her where to go, but seriously, what goes through peoples mind sometimes??  Bad Teeth

At the moment its all about

"Left Right & Centre" by Lord Large on Acid Jazz.....  LIGHTAH!

Fuk me, are Acid Jazz still going...LOL!!
Ummm, you can tell it's written by Paul Weller. It's an OK Jackie Wilson pastiche. Don't like the guys voice though.

Edit - it's the singer from Ocean Colour Scene. Explains alot.

Absolute dance-floor smasher.... SGP loved that tune, and a friend of the FFTT fam has done a remix...

THE BEST GIG I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!

No question! I missed them at the Fiddlers, but saw they were on 12th Dec @ Hammersmith Palais, after they'd won the Giles Peterson award the night before.

They were phenomenal, played for like 2 hours, and even had ALICE RUSSELL as a guest vocalist..... I have never sang, danced and smiled as much as i have that night, and I couldn't have spent it with a better person either.
Grin

Went and saw them at Academy this year with Bugz, and they weren't as good, but then again my expectations were so ridiculously high!

Fuckin too right
Saw them at big chill last year and they smashed it, and then a gain at fiddlers and then again at academy. Still wish i d seen them with alice russel, that gig sounds HOT

I NEVER expect that gig to be bettered...... music, booze company was perfect. Even the long bus journey back to Brixton @ 2am was great, all snuggled up..... Two Thumbs
