::STOP PRESS:: TRIPLE THREAT ALERT - THREE OF BRISTOLS BEST NEW BANDS - ONE NIGHT!!!!

Just when you thought it was safe NOT to venture out this Easter weekend, here comes a Triple-Whammy of a night featuring 3 of the freshest bands that Bristol has to offer.....

Top of the night are The Scribes are a four-piece formed in 2002 by co-lyricists ill Literate and Loki Steele, The Scribes have since gone from strength to strength with the addition of DJ/Producer Spinz to the mix bringing the heaviest of beats to kick crap out of your cliches & human beatbox maestro Lacey. The band have since performed extensively with artists such as Pendulum, Example, Tinie Tempah and Chase and Status, as well as providing original music for BBC television programming. Their newest material promises to be a defining release for The Scribes with an epic new sound to rock out to for 2011 and still finding time to rock out the odd event, The Scribes are going strong and growing every day.

Bristol's very own Syte & The Sound are next up, a 6-piece live act dynamically blending genres on a journey from deep trip-hop to slamming bass and beats. Forming in early 2009, they have earnt their status as a tour-de-force both live and on record, supporting such acts as Dead Prez, Youngblood Brass Band, DELS (Ninja Tunes), The Correspondents and Example. Combining traditional band instrumentation with the creative freedom of samples and synthesizers, this is complimented by conscious, powerful rap lyricism with soulful, impassioned singing. Since Syte and the Sound exploded onto the scene (forming in early 2009) they have establishing a reputation as a formidable live act that are both passionate and engaging.

Finally, born in the cultural melting pot that is Bristol, Three Kings High consists of band members from as North and as South as England goes and they’re influenced by about as many genres as there are cities in-between. Rooted in Hip Hop but combining uplifting, soulful, indie melodies with beats as likely to have been inspired by drum ‘n bass as old funk records. Three Kings High deliver an uncompromised portrayal of living and working in England and write songs with a message that will stay on repeat in your head for days. Live, the 6 piece band fronted by Samuel Otis & Joe Chattabox who sing and rap delivering an energetic stage show that leaves an impact on indie to Hip Hop crowds alike.

 Shocked LIGHTAH!

Quote
Dean Richards, the former Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Wolves defender, has died at the age of 36.
When Richards moved from Saints to Spurs in 2001 in an £8.1m deal it was the highest amount paid for a player with no senior international caps.
Just four years after that record switch, he was forced to end his 13-year playing career because of illness.
Since 2007, Richards had been youth-team coach at hometown club Bradford City, where he began his career.
In 1995 Richards was signed by Wolves and four years later moved to then-Premiership side Southampton, who were managed by current Cardiff boss Dave Jones at the time.
Richards also impressed under Jones's successor Glenn Hoddle, who took the centre-half with him to White Hart Lane in 2001.
Richards was dogged by injury at Spurs, however, making 73 appearances in his four years in north London.
After suffering dizzy spells and headaches, Richards was advised it would be harmful to his health to continue playing and hung up his boots in March 2005.
He had initially been diagnosed with an inner ear infection and underwent a scan for a brain tumour, which came back negative.
Richards played for England's Under-21s on four occasions but did not win any caps at senior level.

175  General / The Forum / Re: The Transfer Window on: January 28, 2011, 15:06:20
So all these rumours about Torres wanting to leave stem from Ballague. the man is a fucking ball sack, and hasn't had any inside info since Rafa left. What we have above is an article from Sky, with no indirect quotes, based on a source-less twitter from Ballague. Torres has said time and time again that he is happy at Liverpool, and that if he ever left he has too much respect for us to join another English team. But hey, when have journos ever let facts get in the way of a good story. Last night they were claiming he has a buy-out clause, today they're admitting thats not true. Here's a story that won't shift any papers for them: Torres staying at Liverpool.

he doesn't have that clause...

178  General / The Forum / Re: Paul Parker is a proper dick on: January 25, 2011, 19:51:23
Just bothered reading that article - what a crock of shite. When Torres was getting up in that Wolves players face the camera cut to Kenny and he was grinning - he, like me, probably felt delighted to see Torres getting up in the faces of the opposition and winding them up, reminds me of how he was when he first came, winding up Terry and Vidic and the like. I'd much rather see Torres doing that than sulking round the pitch looking disinterested as he did under Roy.

anyone who's read the King's autobiography recently will know this is true.... he'll get the best out of nando for next season two.... fingers crossed they'll both be in the same positions still!

::STOP PRESS:: - OI! SANTA... WHERE'S MY MONKEY??!!

Kicking off the Christmas party season as only they know how, FFTT are going to unleash Bristols number one mash-up mandem PARKER as their 2010 Xmas treat!!

If Knighthoods were given out for contributions to crowd rocking, Parker would be curtseying in front of the Queen come New Year. As it is, plaudits range from Massive Attack to DJ Yoda. Royalty indeed! Always one for "combining a cheeky sense of humour with a keen ear for a record-defining sample", who knows what styles he'll be running, or inventing next, (Funkstep, anyone?). As undisputed king of the swingers and creator of the one and only "Where's My Monkey" Parker is, and always will be, your friendly neighborhood beatsmith.

Parker will be showcasing his djing and remixing talents on a bulging line up. that includes another rarefied talent in human beatboxer extrodinaire VID WARREN. From instrumental-beatboxing to dark piano grooves, Vid Warren brings some of the freshest performance available, whilst the BASS KITCHEN DJs will be serving a feast of funky bassy beats alongside their FFTT cohorts.
