1  Food for your Ears / Hijackers' Tunes and Mixes / Alpha Boys School Radio is online 24/7 on: August 03, 2013, 17:12:38
Many have already "heard" the work of Alpha Boys School. Yellowman, Leroy Smart, The Skatalites, Jo Harriot, Rico Rodriguez, Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace. They all went there. And 1000s more.

www.alphaboysschoolradio.com now plays all Alpha boys' music all the time! From jazz to ska to rocksteady to reggae and some dancehall.

It just so happens Alpha is, and always had been, a school for at-risk boys in need of care. Alpha still serves about 85 boys and the music program is alive and well. Just listen to Alpha Boys School Radio and you'll hear!

Lyrics:
Hot…..

I hear them say 2012 shall be the ending of the world
I and I say fire pon dem
Whappen to dem
Green Lion and Kabaka Pyramid a dash a fire upon the nasty beast

New year new style
We a drop the bomb
Pon di whole a babylon
Dem organization

New year new style
We a bring the heat
Promoting all the farming
Not the corn
And not the wheat

New year new style
Dem a fearing us
True we entering into the age of Aquarius

Me say new year new style
We a lock the show
From Jamaica where we know
To Europe over so

Dem a say me have a lot of things fi talk, true
Me a look a round and me see a lot of things fi sort (like wha?)
Fi bun up babylon and just the proper links we want

Fi touch a couple show and get me product in demand
Fi prepare me self me lock the proper Bingi chant
Fi light up a fire inna di Papacy Mi Walk
Fi see me people dem uplift themself in a dem thoughts
And low the fishing and the chicken  parts

New year New Style
We a lock the show
From Jamaica where we grow
To Europe over so

Me say new year
We a drop the bomb
Hailing Selassie
The conquering lion

In this new year new style we a set the pace
Telling all my people say no money you no fi chase
Me say new year new style
Giving babylon a new page and a new file

Inna yard me see a whole heap a youts arise
With unity an strength this energy get utilized
Tired fi see my people in the streets get brutalized
Dem government a lost, Kabaka P a scrutinize

Man utilize in gathering these minds
Prepare them for the time when this economy declines
Ca’ none of these governmental nominees inclined
Fi see me people reach a state that is divine

New year new style
We a drop the bomb
Pon di whole a Babylon,
Dem organization

New year style
We a bring the heat
Promoting all the farming
Not the corn and not the wheat

Me say new year new style
Them a fearing us
True we entering into the age of Aquarius

We say new year new style
I a lock the scene
Hailing Selassie supreme

What dem feel like
Them cant come trick we now
No nyam no meat so they cant come sick we now

We nah work with Queen Elizabeth yah no

Me nah go take no talk
From no disc jickey a request fi get pay off
Me laugh and box him inna him face with all me Clarks
A Green Lion works me come fi mass

In this
New year, new style
We a drop the bomb
Pon di whole a Babylon

Until the early 90s, sound systems were the primary medium to hear Jamaican music in Jamaica. Radio, television and the internet have changed all that. Today on the Listening Party, the voices of sound system owners and operators throughout its history will share their thoughts on the transformation of the sound system scene. From the era of stacks of speakers to the portable lap top deejay software, the voices we will hear from include Father Pow of Stone Love disco, Ricky Trooper of Killamanjaro sound system, Gary Exodus and Father Romie of Exodus Nuclear as well as the late Cyril ‘Count C’ Braithwaite, Father Romie’s father and a foundation sound man from the 50s. Vocalist Uton Greene is also on the program. Keep it locked because at the end of the show we always give away the song of the week at http://www.45shootout.com.

Kings Bell represents the first time Midnite, which many credit with playing the real roots reggae music, has worked with a Jamaican producer on an album project, making the album a sign of the music coming full circle.

Dread & Alive is the first superhero comic book with a Jamaican superhero. The story follows Drew McIntosh and his battle against evil in both his adopted city of San Francisco and native Jamaica. Selected #4 on Web Designer Magazine’s Hot 100 for 2011, in great part due to the connectivity between the art, music and the multi-media.
