5. CADILLAC JACK (Digital only)
6. COLOUR MY WORLD (Free download)

Since his debut release on Dub Police back in 2008, Subscape has come a long way, quickly emerging as one of the most exciting young talents to come out of the dubstep scene. We are extremely proud to announce that he is returning stronger than ever with a brand new EP for the label showcasing a decisive evolution in his sound.

Kicking off the EP is the anthemic 'Turn Me On', a track built to cause havoc on any dancefloor. The dynamic combination of ecstatic synth lines and mechanized bass tones fuse together with the swinging snare hits to harness a new energy in Subscape's music. 'Square Albert' takes this energy and twists it on its head with galloping percussion and colourful rave-inspired synths before bursting into double time drum lines and shooting off in a new direction. 'Universal' is a step into the future carried by a gargantuan wave of bass pressure as the alien lead synth line soars high into the atmosphere and the growling bassline and destructive snares force the track home. Rounding off the vinyl package, 'Apple Candy' takes things deeper with seductive strings, yearning vocal samples and synth lines.

Digital only track 'Cadalac Jack' offsets the knockout half step drum pattern and writhing bass line against beautiful chord progressions and slick synth lines to devastating effect. The EP also includes free track 'Colour My World', a powerful burst of high octave synth carnage built on stadium-sized drums.

Currently in high demand for both his production and DJ talents, this gifted young artist continues to wow people with each move he makes. With an ever-growing list of international bookings stretching out before him and a growing arsenal of music, it looks like his journey is only just beginning and we are proud to be a part of it. Dub Police are proud to announce the release of their first artist album courtesy of Birmingham-based producer Emalkay, who is set to release his hotly anticipated debut LP ‘Eclipse’ this Spring.

First making a name for himself with early releases on his own Morphic Sounds imprint, Emalkay has continued to push the boundaries of underground bass music ever since, delivering a slew of huge releases on the way. Having been an integral part of the Dub Police stable ever since his ‘Explicit / Heroics’ 12” for the label in 2009, Emalkay has gone from strength to strength with a series of heavyweight tracks that includes the phenomenal ‘When I Look At You’ and recent smash ‘Crusader’.

Comprised of 12 tracks, ‘Eclipse’ is a bold and powerful album encapsulating perfectly everything that makes Emalkay such a prodigious talent, effortlessly showcasing the depth and diversity of his sound while always remaining true to his inimitable style. As addictive as it is hard-hitting, the album doesn’t just provide a collection of dancefloor tracks, but a confident and coherent artistic statement.

While keeping the tempo around 140bpm, Emalkay experiments with new rhythms and sounds, delving deep into his own musical DNA to create something unique and fresh. Robust drum lines and rib-rattling basslines collide with evocative atmospheres and a deft melodic touch to devastating effect, giving the album both immediate impact and lasting mystique.

Emalkay makes his intentions clear from the start, dropping straight into forthcoming single ‘Fabrication’, which delivers a sucker punch with its deadly mutating bassline and huge half-step drums. Keeping up the energy, it moves through tough jungle-inflected roller ‘Crusader’ and straight into the high-octane ‘Keep Goin’ On’, switching up rhythms brilliantly between old skool breaks and lurching half-step. The track features a rare appearance from legendary singer Baby D - best known for seminal 90s track ‘Let Me Be Your Fantasy’– who teams up with Emalkay to contribute a beautifully vocal to the track, working perfectly with the classic rave vibe.

‘Space Hopper’ is up next, driven by a thumping 4x4 kick while the buoyant pulsing bassline causes some serious damage before ‘Transpose’ plunges the knife in with its hyperactive mechanoid bassline, crisp snares and chopped vocal samples. ‘Flesh & Bone’ featuring long-time Dub Police affiliate Rod Azlan uses a rattling breakbeat to devastating effect, complimenting his vocals and the dub sonics brilliantly.

‘The World’ featuring the sublime vocals of Lena Cullen releases the pressure, juxtaposing the deep bassline and sparse drums against the vocals, letting the track breathe. The only full vocal track on the album, it explores Emalkay’s undeniable songwriting talent, revealing a pop sensibility at its core that will undoubtedly introduce him to a whole new audience. ‘Metropolis’ is one for the eyes down crew, keeping things in deeper territory with its growling bassline and eerie atmospheres.

‘Why Don’t I Like You’ showcases a more experimental edge playing with textures and tempo, punctuated by the dark vocal refrain, before ramping up the pressure again with the club conquering ‘When I Look At You, which still retains all of its impact, sounding as fresh as it did the first time you heard it, switching between the infectious melody and vocal against the sharp industrial bass and cavernous snare hits.

The album finishes on the uplifting ‘True Romance’ which injects an uplifting rave sensibility into Emalkay’s exploration of hardcore and jungle rhythms, playing out on the longing pitched-up vocals and beautiful piano lick.

A brilliantly confident and varied debut album, ‘Eclipse’ is set to cement Emalkay’s place as one of the biggest and most exciting producers working in bass music today.

Dub Police #052

Truly one of the shining lights here at Dub Police, Emalkay has gone from strength to strength in the past couple of years, cementing his place among the greats of modern UK bass producers out there right now.

After bursting onto the scene back in 2008 with Critical Hit, he has been slowly forging a unique and forward thinking sound of his own. It’s a sound which is based on a dubstep template we have all grown to love, but a sound which draws influences from and pays tribute to the time honoured traditions of the past; you only have to listen to his most recent pulverising club-smasher Crusader, to know what we mean there.
There is also something very striking and different about the sonics of Emalkay, an attention to detail in his production that too often is overlooked, in the ever changing, fast paced industry we find ourselves in today.

Dub Police present the latest release from one of the biggest members of its family, a release of real character that was crafted for the UK underground.

You can grab this fantastic release from any of the online stores below…

7 Digital
HMV Digital
Boomkat (12” Vinyl)

You can also keep up to date with Emalkay at his Facebook and Twitter pages.

Also be sure to head down to FABRIC on April 22nd for the Dub Police residency and Emalkay’s Album Launch Party, featuring some of the biggest talent in the scene.

Advance Tickets can be bought from the Fabric website.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch/v/_18YlIJwj8k" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch/v/_18YlIJwj8k</a>

D1 has once again come up with the goods, and delivered two brilliant old skool influenced dancefloor tracks. 'Flood Of Emotions' featuring renowned vocalist Jenna G, showcases D1's trademark melodic sensibility, while maintaining the tough drums and pure bass pressure that makes UK bass music so exciting and impactful. Driven by a classic hardcore break, the track penetrates right through you while the uplifting melody, complimented by Jenna's vocals, washes over you beautifully. 'Bleeps To Broadway' takes similar rave influences, this time moulding them around tough, stripped down drums and futuristic bleeps. 'Bleeps To Broadway' is also accompanied by the 130 mix, which opens up the track, slowing the groove down and giving it some extra room to breathe.

D1 was one of the earliest proponents of the emerging dubstep sound, and has remained one of the scene's most creative and exciting producers ever since. Responsible for a number of seminal dubstep tracks, he has been a long-time Dub Police affiliate and has had support from all of the biggest players in the scene, also releasing tracks on esteemed labels like Tempa, Soulja and Dub Files. He continues to push his sound forward and evolve with each and every release, and never fails to surprise! Judging on the pure quality of these tracks, 2011 is set to be a big year for D1...

32  Food for your Ears / Hijackers' Tunes and Mixes / Zero G - Bring It / Subscape Remix (Dub Police) *Out Now* on: February 16, 2011, 17:18:36
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/fRZro3P-eN8" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/fRZro3P-eN8</a>

Following releases on some of the biggest labels in the game, including Liondub, XS Dubz and Digital Soundboy, we are very proud to present the Dub Police debut from Zero G. A no holds barred dancefloor bomb, ‘Bring It’ will hit you right where it counts. Using the pared down elements with maximum efficacy, the growling bassline riff rips right through the core of the track like a knife. The thumping kicks and the snap of the cavernous snares heightens the impact, while the tight percussive shuffle maintains the momentum, wrapping itself around the bassline. On the flip, ‘Bring It’ gets the remix treatment from long time Dub Police affiliate Subscape. Taking the original’s infectious bassline and ramping up the energy levels even further, he delivers a hard-hitting sonic onslaught.

33  Food for your Ears / Hijackers' Tunes and Mixes / The Aikiu – Red Kiss EP (Abracada) *OUT 14th MARCH* on: February 14, 2011, 16:47:55

2.   The Red Kiss (Brodinski Remix)
3.   The Red Kiss (The Magician Precious 80s Pop remix)
4.   The Red Kiss (The Magician Precious 80s Dub Remix)
5.   The Red Kiss (Palmbonen Remix)

What happens when you take a kid, make him travel around the world, introduce him to classical music, to Michael Jackson, teach him the piano, and tell him bedtime stories about ghosts and spirits? You get Alex Aikiu.

Born in Paris but brought up in Africa, The Aikiu was introduced from an early age to Western pop culture. However, The Aikiu never disowned his origins and continues to draw heavily from his dusky childhood memories of Africa.

Hungry to learn, eager to see the world, and take his thirst for music further, he teamed up with his renowned friends Julien Vichnievsky and Cedric Pilooski, both established figures of the electro scene, and give birth to a band, The Aikiu.

Inspired by Herk Harvey’s 1962 cult flick Carnival Of Souls, The Red Kiss is a tale of lie’s continuous but doomed flirtation with death. A lighthearted tragedy about seduction, backed by a stomping glampop beat and lifted upwards by The Aikiu’s coolly delivered affectionate croon. His rich musical repertoire combined with his love for paranormal activities, synths and classical music are just a few hints towards the extent of his potential as the next French pop phenomenon.

Delivering deep velvet 80s dancefloor beats, The Aikiu, although playful, also proves to behold a dark streak that emanates throughout the EP. Pieces such as The Red Kiss literally drip with dark tainted anxiety. With trip happy beats, The Aikiu manages to express the most lavish yet the most repressed and vulnerable sides of humankind. By this, The Aikiu expresses both his dreams and nightmares through condensed pure electronic pop genius, making him the most promising artist on the scene.

The Red Kiss is one peck on the cheek you don’t want to waste.

The single also gets chaperoned by remixes courtesy of ex-Aeroplane man The Magician, the ever so paramount Brodinski and the Dutch cosmonaut Palmbomen – also watch out for the upcoming music video directed by none other than UK fashion guru Rankin.
