Why don't you just type the values into excel and have the charts update themselves with the quantities / costs that you just entered PD will track the cursor position and input data into the file based on where the cursor is clicked and dragged. Unless you think it would be better to do that in vb as well?
I can use pd fairly reasonably so think i would be able to do that in pd so that is my reasoning for using it, I hadn't foreseen the contentions, but now you mention it this may very well be a problem.
Maybe I will have to look into the SQL temporary tables that night world mentioned

hi rather than "read in a loop" it might be better to say you will poll (ie look at the contents of on an interval) the file in vba for changes written to it by PD. this is gonna be tricky cos you might get all kinds of contention problems over who has the file open and what state it's in (eg. PD is writing to the file but VB/Excel is polling it too see what's in it, will it see the changes that PD has written? I dunno. what if excel has the file open, will PD be allowed to write to it? I guess excel can just be accessing it read-only?)
what task does PD fulfil in this project? I don't really understand this part of it, or why you are using it.
Have never done any VBA only VB.Net but i'd imagine setting up a loop with a delay in it to poll the file / re do your formulas is possible.
anything involving excel is a nightmare though (imo), excel interop with pure data just sounds completely bonkers; so i'm interested to know what your motivation for using them together is.

General / The Forum / TAPE & under_score pres: Sven Weisemann. 7th march @ the tube
|

hi hijack, this month we are joining up with Tape to present: Sven Weisemann(Mojuba / Styrax Leaves / liebe*detail / Meanwhile / Apple Pips) + DJs: Jack The Red Richard Carnage Jim Petherwick Placid Saturday 7th March 2008 @ Tube / 10pm - 4am / £4
TAPE & under_score are very proud to present young Berlin upstart Sven Weisemann. Despite being only 23 years old, he has been tearing techno & house dancefloors apart since 1997 with his intense, quick-fire DJ style; as well as releasing his own captivating, ultra-deep productions for Styrax, Meanwhile and his own label Mojuba. Those more familiar with Weisemanns's own productions may be surprised by his DJing style, as he weaves effortlessly between his trademark deeper sound and classic house and techno dancefloor bangers. Influenced by the fast cuts and energetic approach of legendary US DJs such as Derrick May, Sven uses three turntables for maximum effect, taking us on a trip through house, techno, disco and everything inbetween. As a producer, Sven's music draws deeply on the legacy of Chicago and Detroit, yet he has carved out a sound that is invariably his own. Records such as "Vibe" and "Slices" are perfect examples of delirious and atmospheric house music, that aren't afraid to take their sweet time to hypnotise the floor with their charms. A self-taught musician who plays piano, acoustic guitar and percussion, Weisemann also composes jazz and soundtracks. These traditions inform his house records, which can be found on labels such as Meanwhile, House Café Music, liebe*detail, Styrax Leaves and especially Mojuba, where Weisemann's music slots together with friends Nick Solé and Oracy to form a distinctive and highly collectible body of work. Most recently, Sven has remixed Ramadanman's "Humber" for Appleblim's Apple Pips label, taking the listener on a deep and delicious dub house journey that manages to be both melancholic and uplifting. Those who were present at his incendiary performance at last year's Freerotation festival will no doubt be excited to hear of Sven's return, those who weren't will need to get down to the Tube to see what all the fuss is about! In support we have four of Bristol's finest house & techno DJs. TAPE's Richard Carnage and Jack The Red will join under_score's Jim Petherwick and Placid to spin some of the hottest electronic sounds around. [g33k]
After several attempts at clicking on "Download Now" on the download page using FireFox 3, and nothing happening, I suddenly thought to try IE7... guess what? It worked first time - the Java applet installed and the MS Download Manager started.
FF users - if you want the beta and it's not starting, switch to IE and try it there.
Intentional? Or just sloppy coding by MS that their applet only works with IE? Whatever it is, I sense internet drama coming on...
[/g33k]
java applet written by microsoft? surely ActiveX? or silverlight? </pedanticgeek> anyway ur about to install a beta operating system from microsoft, i'd imagine having to use IE to download it is the least of your worries!

On a serious note, that does look pretty gnarly. Can't see it being of much use in a home environment, as they said, it's adapted for use with massive data sets and time-critical work...think military etc.
Also it would be the shiznit for playing Freecell and Solitaire

yeah vengaboys are big...
i like the way that for their latest tune, they would simply reverse the order of two of the notes of the melody of their last tune. Economical and effective.
Also someone told me that "Vengaboys" is actually pronounced "Bengaboys" because they are spanish or something.
