I dug out the Akufen remixes of CD's "what's your flava" the other day, they are still top notch, and the vocal version is better than the dub due to CD's smooth vocal stylings.

Good line up!! Been playing the recent Styrax Leaves EP in a few of my sets, some great dubbed out techno there, im sure SHED will provide the sickiness.
sorry i cant make it, up in leeds this night.
yep styrax is all lovely stuff, the lawrence track on that recent "in loving memory" especially. shed should be a goodun, he's making really refreshing music at the moment - so good to find artists who don't shy away from the euphoric synth line / off beat handclap vibes. shame you can't make it, you'll have to come to the next one.

ez hijack.... thanks to everyone who came down to see Marcel Dettmann a couple of weeks ago. here's the next one with berlin's multistep badman SHED. under_score presents:Shed ( Soloaction / Delsin / Styrax Leaves ) + under_score djs: Jim Petherwick Luke Malcher Paul Purgas Placid under_score are proud to present Shed; the man behind the wonderful Soloaction imprint, and some of the most exciting and forward thinking techno records of recent times. Since his first release in 2004, Shed has carved a unique niche for himself, in which he pays homage to the classic musical innovators of the Motor City, whilst feeding off the anything-goes anti-genre ethos of the 21st century musical landscape. These tracks sound like nothing else, fizzing with an off-kilter energy that never fails to ignite the dancefloor, and always teetering on the verge of delerium, hysteria, even insanity. Fixing together heavy shuffled multi-step beats, bubbling interstellar synths and shuddering sub-bass, Shed's music and DJ sets offer a truly mind opening experience that is not to be missed. Soloaction is notable for the 'Remixes In Four Parts' 12" which garnered massive critical acclaim in 2007 and featured Shed's earlier work remixed by an eclectic array of producers. These included a rare Substance (aka DJ Pete / Scion) remix, and a groundbreaking techno / dubstep clash from previous under_score guest A Made Up Sound. Shed's music has also found a home on Delsin and Styrax Leaves, two of the most dependable and respected techno labels operating at present. His tracks have appeared on mix compilations from Radioslave and Panorama Bar resident Cassy. In support we have a selection of Bristol's finest techno djs; JIM PETHERWICK, LUKE MALCHER, PAUL PURGAS and PLACID ( under_score ) playing the hottest electronic sounds around. http://www.shed.soloaction.dehttp://www.soloaction.dehttp://www.myspace.com/subsoloactionhttp://www.discogs.com/artist/Shedhttp://www.hardwax.com/?search=shedhttp://www.underscoremusic.co.ukta

No it's not the Climbing Works project, who have been refused planning on the building in the South Liberty Lane Industrial estate. It is The Climbing Academy, close to Old Market / Easton, and more info for the time being is on the blog here: http://climbingacademybristol.blogspot.com/looks good!! looking forward to see the results! shame about the climbing works thing mind

yeahhhh..,. moritz is gonna be awesome.. also, we're very excited about Errorsmith who is playing his amazing & utterly bonkers live set.... when we got him in 06 for under_score we wanted him to play live, but Roz @ Cosies understandably vetoed the live performance due to it being a bit abrasive, so he played a slightly less bonkers dj set. anyway, this time we're getting the full Errorsmith live experience a la "near disco dawn".., watch out

what a top night. dettmann was pretty awesome.. great selection of classic (but not obvious) house and techno and some recent stuff. shouts to the sean and dan as well, they had a tall order following dettmann and played a great set- that kode9 thing near the end was great.
@powdermonkey - nice to meet you!
@sbd - you are excused because you actually sound pretty badly ill - get well soon.
@all crew - thank you all for coming down, the next one is the 5th April with SHED (soloaction / delsin / styrax leaves)

Yeah He's probably opened up an erotic garden in his garden as we speak, he'd be brainwashing them with ideas of the world ending, DJing apocalyptic sounds, filling the crowd with fear and dread.............................. Artist impression of Matt Gray controlling the bassline badness tomorrow: im guessing that each node represents a warper? will be flexxing out some garage at this, and some payday jams for the afterwork crew that was taken while conducting research to establish the upper limit on the number of discrete warpers possible in a single bar of ukg.

@robotpanda: is this quite late on in the alphons aberg series, when he starts degenerating? that skin colour isnt healthy.
yeah, it's from one of the ones that deal with his later life: 'Alfons Trötnar / Alfons Grows Weary'. Basically, he starts to feel fed up with what he's doing with himself (see previous image) but is encouraged by positive things, such as his experiences with metropolitan lesbian groups (see image below). amazing. looking forward to playing at this really. i went to reflex records in sheffield to buy bassline records especcially for the occasion

hi sclist, i believe that if you track down the 2xCD version of dungeon master ( http://www.discogs.com/release/132633 ) you get a live set recorded from 2001. the whole dungeon master ep is great as well, some of the most brutal techno churners ever committed to wax... I've never seen any club dj / live sets about on the internet, only radio mixes and the like. so if you find any, post em on here because i'd like to hear them.

that's amazing. is that real? wake up HG...if you can't spot an animatronic gull there's no way you should be club promoting! paul, if you can't tell the difference between a duck and a bludclart seagull, animatronic or otherwise, there's no way you should be exploring the legacy of electronic music as either an avant garde frontier OR a language for cultural resistance.

hi hijack. thanks to everyone who came down to a made up sound / 2562. it was def. hotmix.... this is the next under_score party: under_score presents:Marcel Dettmann (MDR // Ostgut Ton // Hardwax // Berghain/Panorama bar resident) + djs: Jim Petherwick Luke Malcher Placid The Kelly Twins Saturday 1st March 2008 / 10pm - 4am / £4@ the tube under_score are proud to present Marcel Dettmann; resident DJ at Berlin's legendary Berghain. Located in a huge disused power station surrounded by wasteland, the club has become a symbol for both cutting edge electronic music and advanced hedonism. Together with fellow resident Ben Klock, Dettmann has pioneered the sort of sets needed to keep this huge space rocking for days on end - a fearsome and calculated strain of techno that combines contemporary minimal technique with the tougher aesthetics of old. Dettmann is a also producer of great talent, releasing his uncompromising sub-heavy productions on the Berghain-run Ostgut label and his own MDR imprint. Minimal yet full fat, his distinctive combinations of cavernous bass grooves, floor-pleasing percussive arrangements and inducive atmospherics have put him at the very forefront of contemporary techno music. Dettmann's work has also included a collaboration with Ben Klock, and huge remixes of tracks by Len Faki, Ellen Alien and Mr G. In support we have a selection of Bristol's finest techno djs; Jim Petherwick, Luke Malcher, Placid ( under_score ) and special guests the The Kelly Twins playing the hottest electronic sounds around. http://www.myspace.com/marceldettmannhttp://www.discogs.com/artist/Marcel+Dettmannhttp://www.berghain.dehttp://www.ostgut.dehttp://hardwax.com/?search=dettmannhttp://www.underscoremusic.co.uk fo' mo' info. also don't forget: sahko the movie @ cube cinema sunday week (17th feb) kind regards, matthew

oh, if we're talking online, sure, i didnt think we were, i thought it she was after a shop like, maybe to pick one up tomorrrow, during your luch hour - if you got time otherwise maplin is open late - maybe. dunno. thing is tho if you go to maplin you can go over to the disco lights, plug in the light board and when no one is looking write 'jizzed poof flaps 4 me'. then again i guess you could just buy it online and go into maplin anyway. either way. go to ebuyer.com and write a comment saying 'jizzed poof flaps 4 me', then buy a hardrive in maplins and leave the lightboard alone. what about that place near opposite temple meads? they do macs and that. i bought a power supply on uber short notice from there once.

eh eh eh,
this was a top night.... dave was ridiculously good.... loved his selection of oldschool techno bangers, an excellent exploration of some less obvious choices that worked really well. and of course the new dubstep stuff he was dropping.. and the mixing was on point, really smooth but still energetic.
great night all round, thanks to everyone who came down.
see you at the next one in March.. will have full details and poster up here soon..

this is this best thread ever! Does a vampire count as an animal?
Thankfully a vampire does not count as an animal. Imagine the mess we'd be in if that were true! Exactly my thoughts There was a game where you played a fly in a house trying to get out eat things. Was fun for a bit, but I can't remember the name (and of course, not strictly an animal). How is a fly not an animal? I can't think of any games where you can change into an animal at the moment. But i don't really play any computer games at the moment and i still think that the cutting edge of gaming is ultima underworld 2 I have no idea why I wrote that, the train of thought in my head whilst typing was that in the game (it's very old) you play 4 pixels of black with wings and fly around a room. It is obviously an animal. Excuse my little brain fart there. I never played the Ultima series. I suppose that if a fly is composed of four pixels or less, it can't really constitute an animal. Kind of like a rule that biologists might use to differentiate between bacteria and proper animals and plants. you need to play ultima underworld 2 its the bomb. never played any of the others though. I think in one of the top down ones, you could be friends with an eagle and get it to do jobs for you, does that count? What was the amiga game where you could get ride around on the back of a dragon and shoot fire? You had to knock the baddy off the dragon and then steal it. it was a sideways scrolling thing and at the end you went into a castle? i think it had a coop multiplayer mode as well.
