1202  General / The Forum / Re: What is the funnest thing to do in Bristol?? on: November 11, 2005, 13:19:32
sorry i editted my post to add some more stuff, and remove the bit about dying trying to get to the cave, cos that would not be good.. its still true though.. the chances  are quite small though.. theres another less dangerrous way to get there, from the other side.

another thing that i thought of, if you can be bothered you can go down to the lock at hotwells, by the swing bridge, if you look inside the lock workings (through a little hole in the cover) you can see some flames, that heat up the lock workings to drive of moisture (presumably). underground flames. If you are in the hotwells area it's worth checking out if you like that sort of thing
1203  General / The Forum / Re: What is the funnest thing to do in Bristol?? on: November 11, 2005, 13:03:04
what to do in bristol::::

you should go to the bumslider near the clifton observatory. then go to the cave / viewpoint above avon gorge road, you have to climb down a bit of wire to get to the cave which adds a frisson of excitement. also go to the hill above the farm pub and look at the view over bristol. in summer you can pick fruit (plums an that) from the trees there, also go and look at the goats in the farm. go downhill skateboarding. the big slab on the other side of the avon gorge is cool  (as mentioned previously, probably best not to skateboard down it though).

what else...

arnolfini is ok.... have only been once since it reopened though.
brandon hill (bit mediocre in winter really)
egypt section in the city museum (by bristol uni) is cool
go to easton park and walk up to snuff mills, that's quite nice but maybe its too cold and dark early for longish walks.
go and play tigg.
play hackisac.

1205  General / The Forum / Re: hello I like the orb on: October 26, 2005, 15:19:51
Check out the new stuff on Kompakt, different from Orb of old but still retains the wonkiness. Alex Paterson's a legend!!

yep yep, the new stuff's great! super-schaffel remix of singing in the rain! love it, been playing it out since buying it last year
1206  General / The Forum / Re: under_score presents sutekh : 22/10/05 on: October 22, 2005, 00:41:03

1208  General / The Forum / Re: Hows was Caribou?? I didn't make it... on: October 17, 2005, 13:05:24
i saw them the day after in sheffield. i thought they were pretty good. i even liked the support act (but i do like awful cheesy synthpop) But that was at a stand up gig, not the cube, i think they are definitely a stand-up sort of band. i loved the way that they had the most uncharismatic frontman ever, he sort of stood there staring into the middle distance for every song.

i know what you are saying about backing tracks though: i was stood by the mixing board for a short period, and very few channels were turned up, seeming to suggest that a lot was prerecorded / stereo pair style.
1209  General / The Forum / Re: under_score presents sutekh : 22/10/05 on: October 17, 2005, 09:58:05
Sutekh rocks. He played for us years ago when the Maze was still open - good to see him back in the city. Should be around that weekend so will try to pop along for sure...

that was a great night, with dj jasper from cytrax as well if i remember right? one of my favourite future funks. be good to see you down at cosies. can't make it to surgeon (i've got to work in sheffield that day) so it would be nice to catch up before you head off to sunnier places.

hi, ed, really enjoyed this toxic, thanks for  getting us down to play (same goes from tom, jim and dunc).

highlight was dj jesus rinsing out some mid 90's bassline 4x4 garage tune and din-ST playing errorsmith at 33, then 45, then 33 etc etc etc. but it was all good! looking forward to the 3rd.
1212  General / The Forum / Re: dubstep mix for ya... on: September 30, 2005, 16:09:58

1213  General / The Forum / Re: skream - request line / I on: September 30, 2005, 15:18:16

Does this have either the (shite memory alert) amen tune or his rmx of that quality grime track (both on the recent mix on Hijack)?

not sure which tunes you mean... but he's got a fair bit of stuff floating around that is not released, so it could be one of them. which mix on hijack is it?
1214  General / The Forum / Re: skream - request line / I on: September 30, 2005, 15:10:05
i got it on white label 2 weeks ago, off http://www.juno.co.uk, it think i just got lucky and snagged one of the few copies that they had.  don't think they have any more there but it should get a full release pretty soon.  or you can get the dubstep allstars vol2 mix which has both tracks. in fact get both.. it's on tempa as blazey says...
1215  General / The Forum / skream - request line / I on: September 30, 2005, 14:47:59
might have been mentioned here before, but,
