I tried the smoke picutre ages ago. Pretty cool. You been reading practical photographer?

Wire Wool Attempt 1 by isimba, on Flickr

My first attempted at wire wool. I thought the area was quite damp but a spark went under the rock and started a little bit of a fire. The person with the camera panicked hence the light. Will try again this week.

I think it looks better for the light on the ground.

These images are part of my project im doing for work-

Nice. Really like some of these. The pills in the pot and the UV needles expecially.

its like the cartoons nothing special other than they were created with the sole specific and deliberate purpose of offending people and causing issues as we have seen the reaction we are seeing is achieving precisely the purpose they were intended to deliver i believe this is part of a calculated effort to stir up anti islamic sentiments possibly as part of the pending super war in the middle east which will happen in about 2 months which in itself is being used as a mask to the financial takeover of the our world by an eilite cabal of bankers and globalists who have used enormous derivative frauds to enslave bankrupt and capture the remaining components of the worlds resources and infrastructure that they do not already control and this in itself is a prelude to the introduction of a police state which will be the beginning of a eugenicist attack on the human population to artificially alter the evolution of man/humankind and create a superior one world race with absolute power

13  General / The Forum / Re: open doors this weekend on: September 05, 2012, 17:50:23
There are a lot of people going off on fantasies here that every tunnel in Bristol is connected to every other. Lots of the sites referred to are already well documented but the idea they form one massive network is pure speculation.
14  General / The Forum / Re: open doors this weekend on: September 05, 2012, 14:27:48
My late Gran had a friend who worked at Central library. He told Me that you can get down to them from the library. Street lamps down there and all sorts. It filled my imagination as a kid. It sounded like a whole subteranean world as a 10 year old. I think there is a book on underground Bristol somewhere?? I don't know how much info is in there.

I'd love to see this.  Love

The book has no mention of the lodge. There are plenty of tunnels running along Park St but I'm not aware of anything to the extent claimed here.

Plus, Easton is miles away from Clifton and geographically on the other side of Bristol's CBD, so why would Cliftonians go there?

Why would they leave Clifton? I thought they saw Redland as exotic.

I heard they blew it up... I didn't actually hear them blow it up... but I am under the impression that the suspicious device was blown up.

:edit: It was a briefcase that had been left outside a shop. Imagine if that was your briefcase, that could have had someone's lunch in it. Gutted.
My friend Rupert was in a band about to go on tour. He left his bag laying around a train station in London, poss Paddington. They blew it up. He spent the rest of the tour wearing borrowed clothes that were all too small for him.  Laugh

Edit: It actually made the news: http://www.nme.com/news/chikinki/16846

Harsh funny!

What is the lost property office for tho if they just blow up your stuff, how do they know a safe bag from a not so safe one ?

Is the fellowship being torn down? I used to be friends with a kid who lived there, he had two different coloured eyes. Which was nice.

It's not being torn down as the building is listed but it's due to open as a Tesco in November.

That co-op is my local and I will continue to shop in it even when Tesco opens. I just hope the co-op doesn't close.  Sad

Co-Op won't close. They're getting just as bad as any other supermarket for setting up little express shops all over the place.

At least their policies are inherently ethical...

apart from the policy of opening up millions of express shops - ones just opened up opposite Ashley Down college which will cause the existing newsagent, chippy and pub a few issues I should expect.

Newsagent yes, but chippy and pub?

36  General / The Forum / Re: Home Studio Unwanted Noise Help ! on: August 15, 2012, 14:04:16
Ground loop isolators or impendence transformers should sort that or you could lift the ground but I wouldn't recommend that unless you know what you are doing.

Personally I never use on board soundcards in PCs, they are horrible noisy things and even a cheap breakout like a USB or firewire box can sound better than some expensive sound cards.

Amazing as that is it only shows that life can survive in what is to us such extreme conditions. It does not show whether life may actually come about in said conditions.

Why is nobody as concerned about the rise of St Peterís Hospice. I love charity shops, and St Peterís do a great job, but theyíll open two branches on the same street, sometimes opposite each other, without even flinching. Would they stop if they had a foothold in every high st unit or carry on until they have taken over your living room?

Why is "is there life on Mars?" one of the biggest questions ever asked

It is one of the biggest questions ever asked because we donít know how likely or unlikely our life was. To over simply it, was life coming into existence on Earth something that was inevitable given the right circumstances (in which case there will probably be something on Mars too) or was it a ridiculous freak incident, in which case, for all we know, we may be the only life in the universe. Itís a pretty big question. Also, Jeff Wayne has a lot to answer for.

well it might be important to you but not to me...it makes no difference either way..we are here and that's that...if we weren't the only life form what would you do differently?

If you donít see the importance of that then fair enough. But itís a bigger question than almost anything else. Look at what the isolation of the Galapagos islands taught us about life on earth and imagine what life on another planet would then teach us about life itself. Is there no wonder in your life?

Kedgeree Fried Rice
* Wash a portion of rice
* Cook the rice by adsorption with a portion of (frozen) haddock in with it. If using fresh fish add it half way through
* Finley chop an onion
* When the rice is nearly done (but not quite) transfer it along with the fish to a sieve and let it cool a little
* Put the onion in the empty pan and enough butter to fry
* Add a 1 heaped tsp of garam masala and 1/2 tsp of turmeric, fry until the onion is translucent
* Add the rice and the fish and crack an egg into it (usually saving a little fish for the cat)
* Turn gently until the egg covers everything and is cooked
* Add finely chopped coriander and a little extra to serve
* Sit in front of a good documentary and tuck in.

(Hope I haven't posted this here before.)
